We are now looking for school librarians who want to help develop our school library services in Örnsköldsvik municipality.

You will work closely with students and teachers, colleagues at the school library central, and the public library. You adapt easily to changes and are solution-oriented.

As we are at the beginning of the development work, the position and its content may change along the way.

Your Responsibilities

You are an important part of developing the school library services in the municipality.

A large part of your assignment will be mobile outreach activities directed at schools in the municipality. Part of the assignment involves driving the library bus; if you do not have the authorization to drive a bus, you will need to obtain a C driver's license during your employment.

You collaborate with the school's staff to find ways to develop the school library and integrate the library into teaching.

You support students and teachers in information retrieval and source criticism.

Together with the school library coordinator, colleagues at the school library central, and the public library, you plan and implement reading promotion activities and media and information literacy education.

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or another higher education that the employer deems sufficient.

As a person, you are easy to collaborate with, service-oriented, have a pleasant demeanor, and the ability to work independently. You have a genuine interest in promoting reading and language development. Personal suitability is highly valued.

You have good IT skills. Experience working with media and information literacy (MIK) is an advantage.

A driver's license, category B, is a requirement; category C and access to a personal vehicle are advantageous. Please attach your CV and cover letter with your application.

We welcome language skills in Finnish and/or any of the Sámi varieties as Örnsköldsvik municipality is part of both Finnish and Sámi administrative areas.
